The swim in the City of Gloucester Triathlon will take place in the pool at Brockworth Sports CentreTri Team Glos will be centre stage on Sunday when the City of Gloucester Triathlon takes place.
The event attracts some 200-plus competitors and will start and finish at Brockworth Sports Centre at Henley Bank High School in Mill Lane.
The competition, which consists of a swim, bicycle ride and run, will be split into two with a super sprint triathlon and a sprint triathlon.
“The super sprint triathlon is a 200-metre swim, a 14K bike ride and a 3K run,” said Tri Team Glos chairman Pete Jones. “The sprint is double the super sprint in each discipline.”
There is also a team relay event where teams of three compete in one discipline each and Jones said of the annual event: “It’s a well-established race.”
The swim will take place in the pool at Brockworth Sports Centre, while the bike ride will take competitors out along Shurdington Road towards Cheltenham before heading into Badgeworth and onto Churchdown before returning to Brockworth.
The run is around Brockworth and although Jones is a big supporter of the event it is not one he has ever taken part in.
“I’ve never been able to,” he said. “You need at least 40 people from the club to work on the day to make sure that everything runs smoothly.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
