The end of the last cricket season may be closer than the start of the 2020 campaign but that hasn’t stopped go-ahead Gotherington Cricket Club from looking ahead to next summer.
The village club have got big plans in place to spend another £500 on juniors’ kit in readiness for the new season.
The junior set-up is a big part of Gotherington Cricket Club, a club that also delights in playing friendly adult cricket.
“The club is committed to maintaining and developing cricket in the village, with our juniors’ development one of our key objectives,” said Brian Cosgrove, one of the main men at Gotherington Cricket Club.
“Within the last two years the club were able to purchase a Bola Bowling Machine to, principally, support the ongoing development of our players.
“The cost of the new equipment was £1,400 and demonstrates how our fundraising – and any one-off donations we receive – is vital to ensure the club is able continually to improve our facilities, equipment and coaching.
“The club has also invested over £3,000 in purchasing ground machinery and our practice net since 2017.”
Gotherington play their homes games on the playing field in the heart of the village and Cosgrove added: “We are primarily a self-funded club which relies very heavily on the generous support of its past and present players, supporters and parents/guardians of our junior cricketers and sponsors.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
