Dursley Rugby Club’s fabulous season ended in style with another trophy for their overflowing cabinet.
The club’s 2nd XV won the Stroud and District Combination Junior Cup in a thriller, withstanding a late Cirencester rally to win 33-29 at Stroud.
That success follows on from their flagship team’s 48-14 win over Stroud in the Senior Cup final at Cirencester the previous week.
That win in turn completed a league and cup double for Dursley because they romped to the Gloucestershire One South title.
“It’s been a phenomenal season,” said senior rugby manager Josh Bailey. “As a club, the Combination cup competitions are really important to us and the Junior Cup final was a really good game.
“We had a real blend of youth and experience, it was really good although we were hanging on a bit at the end, we were 26-3 ahead at half time!”
Meanwhile, Minchinhampton beat Painswick 24-14 in the Junior Plate final on Saturday while seven days earlier Cainscross overcame Wotton in the Bill Adams Trophy final and Minchinhampton 2nds defeated Dursley 3rds in the 3rd/4th play-off final.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
