Hucclecote will head to Twickenham for the first time in their 56-year history when they take on near neighbours Coney Hill in the final of the RFU Community Cup Counties 3 Championship final on Saturday (11am).
They booked their place with a comprehensive 52-0 win over Wells earlier this month and their supporters will be hoping that they can maintain the form that saw them clinch the Counties 3 Gloucestershire North title last month.
“The lads have been amazing this season, absolutely unbelievable,” said club president Jo Harris.
“Getting to Twickenham means everything, it’s really difficult to put into words. We’re just a little club from Gloucester.”
The club also won the North Gloucestershire Combination’s Martin Slatter Junior Cup on Saturday – they beat Old Cryptians 42-32 in the final at Widden Old Boys – and Harris continued: “There’s a great buzz around the club.
“We’ve had so much support which has pushed the boys on. The lads have been led by [head coach] Jack Preece who’s worked really hard to get them to where they are, but they’ve done it themselves as well.
“They’ve worked so hard, we’re so proud of them.”
Hucclecote finished 50 points clear of seventh-placed Coney Hill in the 12-team Counties 3 Gloucestershire North but Harris, who play’s for the club’s ladies’ team, is taking nothing for granted on Saturday.
“They’ve been doing so well in this competition, it won’t be easy,” she said. “Playing against Coney Hill is fantastic, it’s going to be a proper Gloucester day.
“But we’re going there to win. I’m confident that we’ll bring home the silverware but we’ll see.”
