The Gym Centre/Cheltenham School of Gymnastics, and its satellite club held at the Cotswold School in Bourton-on-the-Water, has seen a wave of success in recent months.
The club, which is run by ex-Cotswold School pupils Martin and Kerwen, has triumphed in a series of regional and local gymnastics competitions and gradings.
It began when 22 gymnasts from the clubs entered the South West Club and Regional Gradings at Bristol Gymnastics Club.
Through the gymnasts’ unwavering dedication and the continual support and training from their coaches, they came away with some highly commendable, well-deserved results consisting of two passes, 16 commended and four distinctions.
Among those who took part in the grades were four gymnasts from the Bourton Gymnastics classes, who also train alongside their teammates at The Gym Centre Gymnastics Club, based at GL1 Leisure Centre, Gloucester.
Jessica Havill entered the club grade 5 grading and came away with a commended while Sophie Havill entered the same grading and came away with the top grade of distinction.
Emily Rowe achieved a pass at the regional grade 2 grading and Hannah Rowe entered the regional grade 4 grading, receiving a commended.
Further success was attained in the Levels Floor and Vault Competition at Fromeside Gymnastics Club.
Eighteen gymnasts took part against athletes from other clubs in the area and were able to come away with some extremely well deserved results ranging from fifth place to junior, senior and young ladies’ champion.
Specifically, from the Bourton Gymnastics classes, Emily Rowe placed 4th and Emily Franks 2nd in the Level 4 ladies’ competition.
Four gymnasts from the Bourton Gymnastics classes were part of three teams who placed in the West Country League Team competition that took place at Wiltshire School of Gymnastics.
Emily Rowe was part of the 2nd Division B league team and placed 2nd alongside her team-mates.
Jessica and Sophie Havill were part of the 2nd Division A league team and placed 3rd while Emily Franks also took part in the 4th Division B league team and placed 3rd.
To top off this string of successes, two gymnasts from the club’s Bourton classes competed alongside their team-mates and other clubs in the Gloucestershire Novice Floor and Vault Competition at the Forest of Dean Gymnastics Club.
Emily Lord placed 9th in the Novice 2 under 8s and Katie Rowe placed 4th in the Novice 2 aged 13 years category.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
