Upton Town stun Cheltenham League Division One leaders Andoversford
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Monday, 15th April 2019, 11:30
Upton Town produced the result of the day to keep the race for the Cheltenham League Division One title wide open.
They went to long-time leaders Andoversford on Saturday and won 5-1 to lift them up to second place in the table, just a point behind the pace-setters.
Andoversford remain the favourites for the title however, because they have three games remaining and Upton have only two.
Cheltenham Civil Service Reserves, who started the day in second place, were unable to capitalise on the goings-on in the Andoversford game because they lost 4-3 at home to Hanley Swan.
With just one game left to play they trail Andoversford by two points.
The Division Two and Division Four titles were wrapped up some time ago by AFC Renegades and FC Lakeside Reserves respectively, but the Division Three title remains up for grabs.
Leckhampton Rovers, 5-1 winners at Andoversford Reserves on Saturday, are in pole position but they are likely to be overhauled later this week.
Leckhampton have completed their programme and are just one point ahead of Malvern Vale who have two games left to play.
Their next game is at Kings Reserves on Thursday – the two teams met at Malvern on Saturday with Malvern running out resounding 11-0 winners.Saturday’s results
