Longlevens Reserves win play-off game and are promoted to the County League
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Thursday, 14th May 2026, 14:30
Longlevens Reserves will play in the County League for the first time in their history next season.
The Northern Senior League Division One champions beat Wessex Wanderers 2-0 in a play-off game to seal promotion at Almondsbury last night.
Second-half goals by left-wing James Barnett and central midfielder Rio Spencer, a penalty, clinched the win in what was a hard-fought game against the Bristol and Suburban League champions.
Barnett struck five minutes after the break and Spencer converted his spot-kick in the 85th minute after Barnett had been fouled.
“It was a great night,” said joint manager Craig Martin. “They tested us, it was a very challenging game.
“Our goalkeeper Jack Sargeant made five fantastic saves, he was player of the match.”
Longlevens finished on top of the Northern Senior League after losing just the one game and Martin continued: “It’s been a brilliant season.”
And Martin is already looking ahead to 2026/27. The club’s flagship team play in the Hellenic League Premier Division and Martin added: “The County League is a good league and it’s great for the club that the reserves will now be competing at a level closer to the first-team.”
