Bishop’s Cleeve A will take on Andoversford in the Cheltenham League Junior Charity Cup final next month.
Cleeve, the cup holders, booked their place with a 2-1 win over fellow Division One side Upton Town at Petersfield Stadium last night.Richard Barnes and Joshua Zanelli got their goals.
Andoversford, the current top flight pace-setters, eased into the final earlier in the week when they overcame Division Two side Bredon Reserves 4-1, also at Petersfield Stadium.
Andoversford were indebted to a hat-trick by Ryan Cleal although it was actually Bredon who scored the opening goal of the game – a 30th-minute strike by Toby Patterson.
Cleal was on target just before half-time to bring Andoversford level. He added his second on the hour and completed his hat-trick just on full time. Sonnie Burrows got Andoversford’s other goal.
The final of the competition, which is for teams in the top two divisions, will take place at Gala Wilton on Saturday 29th December with kick-off at 2pm.
Cleeve are currently second in Division One, four points behind Andoversford, who have won seven and drawn one of their opening eight league games.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
