Tewkesbury Town set up Cheltenham League Senior Charity Cup final date with Andoversford

Tewkesbury Town are through to the Cheltenham League’s Senior Charity Cup final after a dramatic 4-3 penalty shootout win against Brockworth Albion Reserves.
They will play Andoversford in the final at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium – home of Cheltenham Town – on Thursday 9th May (Kick off 7pm).
And if they thought Brockworth were tough – it ended 0-0 after 90 minutes – then Andoversford will surely be even tougher because they have just clinched the Division One title after winning 4-1 at – you guessed it – Tewkesbury Town on Saturday.
That game against the long-time leaders was always going to be difficult for Tewkesbury coming as it did two days after their semi-final with Brockworth at Kayte Lane.
And although there were no goals in normal time in the semi-final there was still plenty to keep spectators interested with Brockworth keeper Ryan Price making a fine save as early as the second minute.
Nico Franca and Jack Hunt both went close for Brockworth in the first 45 minutes but in the second half Tewkesbury started to come on stronger, and after having claims for a penalty turned down they went closest to scoring in the 76th minute when Ryan Clark forced Price to produce a flying save. From the resulting corner Clark headed over.
The penalty shootout was as tense as the game itself with Darren Lowe scoring for Brockworth and Teejay Hoskins levelling for Tewkesbury.
Keeper Andy Pepperell gave Tewkesbury a huge boost when he saved Colm Evans’ penalty down to his left and Chris Dyson then slotted home to cement the advantage.
Darren Batchford was then successful for Brockworth before goalkeeping hero Pepperell became a goalscoring hero by notching his side’s third.
Josh Long slotted for Brockworth – even though Pepperell got a hand to it – and Clark scored for Tewkesbury before Craig Park smashed the ball over the bar to send Tewkesbury through.
