Stuart Langworthy delighted as England hit 11 past Gibraltar

Stuart Langworthy was in Gibraltar at the weekend for an England walking football international and he cerianly enjoyed his time there.
Regular readers of The Local Answer will know that Langworthy, as well as having done so much for Abbeymead Rovers over the years, is now team manager of England over-60s walking football team.
A warm-up game went well – they beat a team of ex-pats 10-4 – before the main event, which was the game against Gibraltar.
It was Gibraltar’s first ever international – it was England’s third – and the game got under way in bright sunshine, temperatures around 20 degrees in the shadow of The Rock and in front of a crowd of over 200.
Two referees officiated the game – one in either half – and they were very strict on running and physical contact, as of course they should be.
The match was pretty one-sided. England were 5-0 up at the break with goals by Alan Davies (two), Peter Stacey, Graham Collier and Spencer Pratten.
Davies added another two in the second half, Collier also doubled his tally and there was one each for Tony Jones, James Trant and Vic Vaines.
The game attracted great coverage from Gibraltar Broadcasting Corporation who hosted a pre-match chat show called Sports Locker, filmed the match and conducted post-match interviews and presentations, with the aim of raising the profile of the game in Gibraltar and further afield.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
