Last-gasp penalty ends Stonehouse Town's Hellenic League promotion hopes

Stonehouse Town hosted Malmesbury Victoria in the Hellenic League Division One play-off final last night
Stonehouse Town's promotion hopes were ended in the cruellest fashion last night.
A 90th-minute Josh Hughes penalty secured a 1-0 win for Malmesbury Victoria and with it a place in the Premier Division of the Hellenic League next season.
A crowd of 704 were packed into Stonehouse's ground for the Division One play-off final and committee member and lifelong Stonehouse fan Ian Neville said: "It was a disappointing result but it was a fantastic occasion, it was a massive crowd."
Stonehouse finished five points and one spot above fifth-placed Malmesbury in the final table and booked their place in last night's final by winning 3-1 at Bewdley Town last month.
The club are holding their end-of-season presentation night tonight but still have one game left to play because they are through to the final of the GFA Challenge Trophy.
They face Hellenic League Premier Division side Roman Glass St George on Tuesday 12th May, a tie that takes place at Roman Glass St George.
"It's a huge game," added Neville.
