Rising Stars: Prestbury Phantoms Rangers Under-10s
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Wednesday, 22nd March 2023, 10:00
Anil Patel is very proud of his football team.
So proud, in fact, that he wants as many people as possible to know how well they’re doing so he got in touch with The Local Answer to spread the word.
Anil is manager of Prestbury Phantoms Rangers Under-10s, who are in their second season in the Cheltenham Youth League.
“We’ve won seven, drawn three and lost four in the league this season,“ said Anil, who is assisted by Gavin Smith and Ben Pask.
And that record is certainly a lot better than the previous campaign.
“We only won one league game,” admitted Anil. “We had a few heavy defeats but we stuck together and we’ve improved a lot this season.”
Matches are 7-a-side – next season they will play 9-a-side – and they play on Saturday mornings and train on Monday evenings. Anil currently has a squad of 11, which includes his son Ellis.
“We’re a mixed ability team,” continued Anil. “We want to take the boys as far as we can. As long as they are willing we’ll take them all the way through the league.”
