Rising Stars: Brockworth Albion Under-12s
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Wednesday, 4th May 2022, 09:00
The joy on the players’ faces tells its own story as Brockworth Albion Under-12s had a day they will never forget at the home of League One club Cheltenham Town.
They beat Whaddon United Under-12s 3-0 in the final of the Ted Croker Cup to end an excellent season in fine style.
Goals by George Jones, Monty Hawkins and Harry Eagle clinched the victory and joint coach Shaun Tout said: “It was fantastic, the boys showed a great attitude on the day.
“We really deserved it and I have to say great credit to the Cheltenham Youth League for securing the stadium and also to Cheltenham Town for allowing us to use it.”
Brockworth skipper Sam Jones was presented with the trophy by Cheltenham Youth League chairman Nigel Newport-Black and Tout continued: “Whaddon won the league so that made the win even better. There was quite a big build-up to the game and there were a lot of people watching so the boys did really well.”
Tout, who is also treasurer for Brockworth’s youth section, shares the under-12 coaching duties with Craig Barnett.
“We’ve been doing it for seven or eight years,” he said. “We’ve had a lot of the boys since they were four or five.”
The under-12 final was one of nine Cheltenham Youth League finals held over two days at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.
