Quedgeley Wanderers power to first win in the County League
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Tuesday, 3rd September 2019, 09:00
Newly promoted Quedgeley Wanderers clinched their first win in the County League at the third attempt as they won 3-0 at Broadwell Amateurs.
They’d lost their opening two games but three second-half goals got them up and running.
On 65 minutes Nathan Payne cut into the box to put them 1-0 up and 15 minutes later they made it two when Kyle James-Bryan finished after James Bevan headed back across goal. They completed the scoring when Nathan Payne intercepted a cross ball and sent Rory Cawkwell through to score.
Frampton United made it three wins out of three with a 4-2 victory over visitors Patchway Town.
Jonathon Lewis gave Frampton the lead on four minutes but Patchway hit back to level on 18 minutes with a strike from Jacob Cox.
Jack Bartman then restored the lead for the home side on 26 minutes. Jessie Hudson made it 2-2 in the 52nd minute before two late goals from Steve Jackson and Jonathon Lewis saw the points go to United.
In-form Gala Wilton made it a hat-trick of wins with a 4-2 home success over Ruardean Hill Rangers.
The visitors went ahead after eight minutes through Luke Johnson but Gala were level six minutes later through Martin Smith.
The home side went ahead in the 63rd minute with an excellent header from Ryan Dobbins and two minutes later it was 3-1 when Dobbins set up James Bowers to drive home.
On 82 minutes a fine shot from Dan Webb took a slight deflection on its way into the net to make it 4-1 before Luke Brown grabbed a late consolation effort for the visitors.
