Prestbury Rovers Reserves power to Cheltenham League Primary Charity Trophy final win PLUS Cheltenham League results
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Monday, 18th March 2019, 12:00
Prestbury Rovers Reserves won the Cheltenham League’s Primary Charity Trophy with an emphatic 5-1 win over Dowty Dynamos Reserves.
The match was played at All Saints Academy and Prestbury grabbed the early initiative when they went ahead after two minutes.
Neat play down the right found Luke Robson who slotted the ball home. But the lead didn’t last long because seven minutes later Dynamos were level when midfielder Elliott Green’s excellent pass found Rob Miles and he made no mistake.
The strong wind was making it difficult for both sides and both keepers needed to be watchful with Prestbury keeper Mikey Evans saving well to deny Rob Miles a second.
Two minutes into the second half Prestbury regained the lead after Ross Nicol put Laurie Cleevley through.
A 30-yard screamer from Jordan Pates stretched Prestbury’s advantage and with Dynamos reduced two nine men after two red cards Prestbury pressed home their advantage.
Luke Robson added a fourth and with two minutes to go Lewis Tocknell added the fifth.
The Primary Charity Trophy is for teams in Division Three and Division four who were knocked out in the first round of the Minor Charity Cup.
There was a truncated league programme on Saturday, but in Division Four Kempsey Corinthians defeated Bishop’s Cleeve Development 5-0 with Luan Gashi getting four of their goals.
