Paul Bennett is the hero for Kings in dramatic Cheltenham League Senior Charity Cup tie against FC Barometrics Reserves
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Monday, 18th February 2019, 13:00
Paul Bennett was the Kings’ hero in a remarkable Cheltenham League Senior Charity Cup match on Saturday.
With his side trailing 2-1 to FC Barometrics Reserves, the goalkeeper went up for a corner and nodded the ball home to take the match into a penalty shootout.
Bennett then saved two penalties in the shootout to send his side through to the quarter-finals.
The draw for the last eight will be made on Wednesday and one name that will be surprisingly missing is Bishop’s Cleeve A, who were beaten 1-0 by Brockworth Albion Reserves, who play a level below them in Division Two.
Elsewhere, AFC Renegades from Division Two took Division One side Hanley Swan to a penalty shootout before losing 8-7.
The quarter-final ties will be played on 16th March or 23rd March.
