How Neymar will be helping to inspire an under-13 football team this season
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Friday, 14th July 2023, 14:00
A girls’ football team will be inspired by one of the best players in the world this season.
That player is Neymar, the superstar from Brazil who plays for PSG, and the team in question are Gotherington Jaguars who will be playing in the under-13 division of the Gloucester County Girls’ League in 2023/24.
“The team were presented with a framed signed shirt of Neymar after last season,” said the girls’ coach Wayne Morgan. “Neymar is an ambassador for Superdry, who are our sponsors.”
And the special memento capped what was a truly special season for the team as they clinched the under-12 division title, winning 14 and drawing two of their 16 matches.
The girls are obviously big fans of Neymar, so who has the framed shirt at the moment?
“It’s doing the rounds of the girls’ homes,” said Morgan.
“My daughter Flo has had it, she said ‘goodnight’ to Neymar every night!”
The coming campaign will be another big challenge for the Jaguars as they start playing 11-a-side football.
They’ve got a squad of 17 and Morgan said: “As the champions we’ll definitely have a target on our backs.
“But everyone wanted to beat us last season as well, all the teams were so much better in the second half of the season.”Other Images
