Forest Green Rovers have signed 20-year-old midfielder James Morton on a season-long loan from Bristol City.
The midfielder, who can sit in a holding role or slightly higher up the pitch, joins Mark Cooper’s men after spending last season on loan at Bath City.
He made 35 appearances in the National League South where he impressed manager Jerry Gill during his spell at Twerton Park.
The right-footed ball player, who joined Bristol at the age of 14, is now looking forward to stepping up another level and proving what he can do in League Two.
“I’m really excited and it is a big step up from my loan last season,” said Morton.
“It will be a completely different challenge but I am looking forward to it because Forest Green play great football and that was a real attraction for me.
“I feel like this loan move will suit me well and is a real step in the right direction for my career.”
Richard Hughes, head of recruitment, said: “This is another good, young signing for the club as we continue to build relationships with clubs like Bristol City.
“He is a technically gifted midfielder who fits the mould of what we are trying to do at Forest Green when it comes to recruiting exciting, young talent.
“This is a step up for James from what he experienced last season but we look forward to bedding him into the first-team squad.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
