Cheltenham League set new dates for two cup finals at Bishop’s Cleeve
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Wednesday, 9th January 2019, 09:00
New dates for two of the Cheltenham League’s showpiece cup finals have been set.
The Minor Charities Cup final will take place at Bishop’s Cleeve Football Club on Thursday 21st March at 7pm, while the Junior Charities Cup final will take place a week later at the same venue, also with a 7pm kick-off.
Malvern Vale have booked their place in the Minor Charities Cup final and await the winners of the tie between Shurdington and FC Lakeside. The semi-final is scheduled for Thursday 24th January at Bishop’s Cleeve (7pm).
The Junior Charities Cup final will be contested by Bishop’s Cleeve A and Andoversford.
Both cup final dates have been rearranged after originally being scheduled for the end of December.
Meanwhile, the league’s flagship cup competition – the Senior Charities Cup – kicked off 2019 for the majority of players with the second round of the competition taking place.
And the big winners were Division Two side Brockworth Albion Reserves, who won 5-2 at Shurdington Rovers, who play in the division above them.
Elsewhere Tewkesbury Town, who play in the top flight, squeezed through 2-1 against Division Three leaders Malvern Vale but it wasn’t quite so tight at Winchcombe Town where the hosts’ reserves lost 15-0 to fellow Division Four side and leaders FC Lakeside Reserves.
The third round of the senior Charities Cup takes place on Saturday 16th February.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
