Brockworth Albion Reserves celebrate their Junior Charity Trophy final win

Brockworth Albion Reserves overcame AFC Renegades in a penalty shootout to win the Cheltenham League Junior Charity Trophy on Saturday.

They won 4-1 after the match at All Saints Academy had ended 2-2.

Division Two pacesetters Renegades were ahead after 14 minutes when a free-kick just outside the box fell to John Pratt who turned and shot low into the net.

Seven minutes before the break Brockworth were level when Jack Hunt capitalised on a goalkeeping error to slot the ball home.

And it soon got even better for Brockworth because they were ahead before the break when a free-kick was whipped into the penalty area and Darren Batchford ran to the near post and headed in.

In the second half Renegades had the wind behind them but were kept at bay by a determined Brockworth until four minutes from time, when a free-kick was awarded to Renegades and a fine strike by Jack Hunt levelled the scores to force the penalty shootout.

The Junior Charity Trophy is for teams in Division One and Division Two who were knocked out in the first round of the Junior Charity Cup.
