Prestbury Rovers Reserves take over at the top of Division Two of the Cheltenham League
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Monday, 16th March 2020, 13:00
Prestbury Rovers Reserves are the new leaders in Division Two of the Cheltenham League. They leapfrogged Smiths Barometrics Athletic Reserves, who were without a game on Saturday, and now have a point advantage, although they have played a game more.It wasn’t easy for them at Fintan however, because they only pulled through by the odd goal in seven.Gala Wilton Reserves cemented their position in third spot with a 3-2 win at Leckhampton Rovers but the big performance of the day in this division came at the other end of the table where Pittville United defeated Brockworth Albion Reserves 2-0, a result that took them off the bottom of the table. In the only other match in Division Two, St Paul’s United went down 3-1 at Welland Reserves. There were just two games played in Division One, one of which saw third-placed Dowty Dynamos lose 3-2 at Bredon Reserves.Bishop’s Cleeve A are now just three points behind Dynamos after they overcame Cheltenham Civil Service Reserves 4-2 and although they are still seventh they have games in hand on all the teams above them.FC Lakeside Reserves moved to within a point of the top in Division Three with a 3-0 success at Malvern Vales Reserves – their 11th win out of 11 – while at the other end of the table there were much-needed wins for Tewkesbury Town Reserves and Worcester City Royal, 3-2 at Falcons Reserves 4-1 at home to 303 Squadron respectively. There were four games in Division Four and one of them saw Bishop’s Cleeve Development go to leaders Tewkesbury Athletic and earn an excellent 2-2 draw.Kempsey Corinthians took closer order at the top with a 7-0 win at Apperley but second-placed Winchcombe Town Reserves failed to take advantage of Tewkesbury dropping points as they too were held to a draw, in their case 1-1 with Cheltenham Saracens 3rds.The remaining game also ended in a draw with bottom-of-the-table Pittville United sharing eight goals with the team immediately above them, Charlton Rovers 3rds.Saturday’s Cheltenham League resultsDivision 1AFC Renegades P Hanley Swan PBishop’s Cleeve FC A 4 Cheltenham Civil Service Res 2Bredon Reserves 3 Dowty Dynamos 2Division 2Fintan 3 Prestbury Rovers Reserves 4Leckhampton Rovers 2 Gala Wilton Reserves 3Pittville United 2 Brockworth Albion Reserves 0Welland Reserves 3 St Paul’s United 1Windyridge Rovers P Andoversford Reserves PDivision 3Malvern Vale FC Reserves 0FC Lakeside Reserves 3Cheltenham CS 3rds P Southside Star FC Reserves PFalcons Reserves 2 Tewkesbury Town Reserves 3Worcester City Royals FC 4 303 Squadron 1Division 4AFC Cheltenham P Gala Wilton 3rds PApperley 0 Kempsey Corinthians FC 7Charlton Rovers 3rds 4 Pittville United Reserves 4Tewkesbury Athletic 2 Bishop’s Cleeve Development 2Winchcombe Town Res 1 Cheltenham Saracens 3rds 1The Cheltenham League is sponsored by Bristol Street Motors Cheltenham Ford.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
