Sharpness are the new leaders of the County League after a 1-0 win at Bromley Heath United while previous pace-setters Frampton United were held to a 1-1 draw by Wick, another club with title aspirations.

It’s very congested at the top with Sharpness a point ahead of Rockleaze Rangers – 7-0 winners over Hanham Athletic on Saturday – and two points ahead of Frampton.

Fourth-placed Wick are five points off the pace but have played fewer games than their rivals.

A very strong cross wind at Bromley Heath made good football difficult and the only goal of the game came from a penalty which was converted by Dan Gayner in the 30th minute.

Meanwhile, visitors Wick had much the better of the first half at Frampton and were ahead after 12 minutes when Sam Thomas scored following a corner.

Frampton equalised two minutes into the second half following a great run by Manolo Espada which ended with a cross for Jack Bartman to slot home.

Wick keeper Joe Pople then saved well from an Espada shot in the 55th minute and 10 minutes later Sam Thomas had a great chance to put Wick ahead again but shot straight at stand-in keeper Davis who took over in goal when Sparrow had to leave the field with a damaged hand.

Right at the death Joe Thomas could have won it for Wick but his header flashed the wrong side of the post.

Free-scoring Gala Wilton managed just the one against Henbury but it was enough to earn them all three points.

And it came in the very first minute when a Craig Howell cross to the far post was headed back across goal by Martin Smith and John Clay was on hand to tap the ball in.

Ryan Dobbins had a chance to make in 2-0 when he turned in the box but shot wide and the only other chance fell to Ben Sluman in the 78th minute but his shot was well saved by Henbury keeper Jack Bebbington.

Hardwicke cemented their place in the top half of the table with an impressive 4-0 win at Little Stoke.

They were ahead after just two minutes when Will Matthews headed in from a cross. On 27 minutes Stuart Nelson struck the crossbar for Little Stoke and on 36 minutes Kieran Williams had a shot well saved.

But Hardwicke were quick off the mark in the second half and went 2-0 up when Steve Bick hit a low drive into the bottom corner. Bick struck again in the 70th minute and Keiron Squires headed home a fourth in the 78th minute.

Quedgeley Wanderers travelled to Ruardean Hill Rangers and returned with all three points after a 2-1 win.

The visitors were ahead after just two minutes through Dorian Colling and Karl James-Bryan could have made it 2-0 but shot wide.

Luke Brown hit a great 25-yard shot on the hour mark to level the score but on 77 minutes Ruardean’s Steve Coombs was sent off following a foul and from the free-kick Karl James-Bryan netted the winner for Wanderers.
