It’s a record that even Liverpool and their manager Jurgen Klopp would be proud of.

Warren Fitzgeorge’s 50th game as manager of FC Lakeside Reserves produced win number 48 as his side defeated Cheltenham United 6-3 in Division Three of the Cheltenham League on Saturday.

It’s a remarkable record. It was their 28th win on the bounce – 19 this season – and they have won every game since last February.

Their two defeats since Fitzgeorge took charge were both by one goal and during his time at the helm they have scored 286 goals and conceded just 55.

Saturday’s win against the second-placed team was their ninth of their league campaign in a season that sees them chasing four trophies.

They trail leaders Smiths Barometrics Athletic 3rds, whose game at Cheltenham Civil Service 3rds on Saturday was postponed, by seven points but they have five games in hand.

“It’s been a fairytale for Warren Fitzgeorge’s managerial career so far,” said assistant boss Rich Webb. “He won the league and league cup in his first season and his team this year was only made stronger by signing the likes of Ryan Smith, the ex-Cheltenham Saracens captain.”

That game at FC Lakeside was the only one played in Division Three as the weather again wreaked havoc with the Cheltenham League fixture list.

There were just two games in Division One – they produced wins for Kings and Bredon Reserves over Cheltenham Civil Service Reserves and Southside Star respectively – while there were only three games in Division Two.

One of those produced one of the big surprises of the season, however, as Andoversford Reserves, who started the day propping up the division, defeated high-flying Prestbury Rovers Reserves 4-2.

A win for Prestbury would have taken them to the top of the table as leaders Smiths Barometrics Athletic Reserves were without a game, while the three points moved Andoversford off the bottom. They are replaced by Pittville United despite their creditable 2-2 draw with St Paul’s United.

In the remaining match in the division, two teams chasing play-off spots – Gala Wilton Reserves and Windyridge Rovers – shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

There were three games in Division Four and Bishop’s Cleeve Development were certainly pleased their game at Pittville United Reserves went ahead as they recorded only their second success of the league campaign, winning 4-1.

Apperley cemented their place in the top half with a 6-2 win at Cheltenham Saracens 3rds and in-form Fintan Reserves moved into the top four with a 5-2 win over Woodmancote United.

Two of the outstanding Senior Charity Cup ties were played and Kev Taylor’s Whaddon United are through to the last eight after an impressive 6-2 win at Dowty Dynamos. Kempsey Corinthians are also in the quarter-finals after the Division Four side overcame Brockworth Albion Reserves, who play two levels agove them, 4-2.
