Four-goal Billy Davis is the hero for Windyridge Rovers as they win Cheltenham League thriller at Leckhampton Rovers

Billy Davis rolled back the years as he scored all four of Windyridge Rovers’ goals in their 4-3 win at Leckhampton Rovers on Saturday.
The hot-shot marksman has been scoring goals for many years in local football and what made his performance all the more impressive at the weekend was that it was his first game of the season.
Paul Bowden’s Windyridge have plenty of experience and the win lifted them up to sixth spot in Division Two of the Cheltenham League with three wins and two defeats, the same record as Leckhampton.
The only team with a 100 per cent record in the division – Gala Wilton Reserves – made it four wins out of four with a thumping 7-0 win over Fintan.
Gala climbed up to third and are four points behind leaders Smiths Barometrics Athletic Reserves who defeated Pittville United 4-0.
Second-placed Prestbury Rovers Reserves lost ground on the leaders after being held to a 3-3 draw by Brockworth Albion Reserves.
Unbeaten Whaddon United moved into the top three in Division One with a 4-0 win over Kings and have games in hand on the two teams above them.
One of them, Malvern Vale, won 3-0 at AFC Renegades to move within three points of leaders Tewkesbury Town who were in Junior Charity Cup action, losing 5-1 at home to Cheltenham Civil Service Reserves.
Bishop’s Cleeve Reserves shared four goals with Prestbury Rovers and honours were also even at Southside Star where Newton collected their first point of the season in a 3-3 draw.
It was Andy Smith’s first official game in charge of Newton after it was announced that long-term boss Wayne Baker was standing down.
There were just two games in Division Three but they were decent fixtures with second-placed Smiths Barometrics Athletic Reserves defeating leaders Cheltenham United 2-1 and third-placed Cheltenham Civil Service 3rds making it four wins out of four with a 3-2 win at Malvern Vale Reserves. Service have a youthful squad which is bolstered by experienced heads like Paul White and James Gill.
Tewkesbury Athletic made it seven wins out of seven in Division Four with a 4-0 win over AFC Renegades Reserves.
FC Lakeside Reserves, who have made such a strong start to their Division Three campaign, are marching on in the GFA County Primary Cup as well. They have strengthened their squad with the signing of Scott Edginton, a proven goalscorer, and they were too strong for Falcons Reserves on Saturday, winning 7-0.
Elsewhere in the county cups, Bishop’s Cleeve Development went through in the Primary Cup on penalties, beating Woodmancote United 4-3 in the shootout after the match had ended 2-2, while Apperley defeated Fintan Reserves 5-2 in an all-Cheltenham League clash.
