Kings hold Cheltenham League Division One leaders Andoversford to a draw
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Monday, 8th April 2019, 12:10
Andoversford have still got work to do before they secure the Division One title in the Cheltenham League.
They still remain strong favourites even though they were held to a 1-1 draw by a well-drilled visiting Kings side on Saturday.
Kings went ahead after the break through Mike Moran and it took a late penalty to earn Andoversford a point.
Andoversford’s nearest rivals Cheltenham Civil Service Reserves closed the gap to a point with a 4-1 win over Dowty Dynamos while third-placed Upton Town remain in the hunt after a 3-2 win at the expense of Bishop’s Cleeve A.
In Division Two, champions AFC Renegades confirmed their status as the number one team at the level with a 2-1 win over closest rivals St Paul’s United.
There’s still all to play for at the top of Division Three with Malvern Vale just two points clear of Leckhampton Rovers although they have a game in hand.
Leckhampton thumped Gala Wilton 3rds 10-1 with Fergus Jackson, Joe Lawrence and leading goalscorer Martin Whitelow all grabbing hat-tricks.
Welland, in third place, could catch the top two but with six games still to play over the next couple of weeks it’s a lot to ask.
FC Lakeside Reserves are confirmed as the Division Four champions after defeating Cheltenham United 4-1.
Woodmancote made sure of a place in the play-offs with a 2-1 win against Bishop’s Cleeve Development.
