Frampton United closed the gap to one point at the top of the County League with an excellent 5-2 victory over Gala Wilton, while leaders Lebeq United were going down 3-2 at home to Rockleaze Rangers.

Frampton opened the scoring on 12 minutes from a corner helped on by Matt Cook and Nathan Dennis stabbed the ball home.

Gala were unlucky in the 18th minute when Tom Dunsford’s powerful shot struck the upright, but Frampton doubled their lead when Shaun Lawson’s cross was turned in by Max Harper-Emerson.

It should have been 3-0 on 36 minutes but Matt Cook’s penalty was saved by Skyers – the keeper making amends after he had brought down Kris Bulley.

Gala pulled a goal back in the 38th minute through Dan Creed, but three minutes into the second half Shaun Lawson restored Frampton’s two-goal advantage.

The visitors hit back for a second time with a goal from Jason Littleton on 52 minutes, but the home side made it 4-2 18 minutes later when Shaun Lawson outmuscled a Gala defender to drive the ball past Skyers. Manolo Espada netted the fifth just before the final whistle.

Hardwicke had to settle for a point after drawing 2-2 at home to Hanham Athletic. The first chance fell to Hanham from a corner from Jack Camm that had home keeper Jacob Hobbs pushing the ball onto the post before Craig Beaton cleared it away.

Hardwicke responded and a 30-yard drive from Rob Hine after he had burst into shooting range was well saved by Hawkins. But just before the break the visitors took the lead when Ash Bowle drove home from 10 yards.

Craig Beaton then went close for the home side when a great run down the flank ended with him cutting in and firing a fierce shot on goal that was well saved by Hawkins.

The home side levelled on 65 minutes when Rich Mansell raced down the right and sent the ball over for Tobie Webb to drive home from 15 yards.

A couple of minutes later James Ratcliffe saw his goal-bound shot well saved by Hawkins, before the home side got their noses in front when Rob Hine headed home from a Ratcliffe corner. But the visitors made it 2-2 on 84 minutes when Ash Bowle was brought down in the box and Jack Camm netted from the penalty spot.

Stonehouse Town entertained Roman Glass St George from the Premier Division of the Toolstation League in round three of the GFA Challenge Trophy and slipped to a 1-0 defeat.

Liam Gale threatened early on for Stonehouse but his driving run was halted by a foul and the resultant free-kick was well saved.

And the visitors capitalised on an error to take the lead eight minutes before the break. Stonehouse went close to equalising when Gale’s shot hit a post and Jamie Spring headed just over the bar after 71 minutes.

And there was more disappointment for the home side when Tim Williams was dismissed for a second yellow card before the final whistle.

Other results, County League: Ruardean Hill R 0 Little Stoke 2; Southmead CS Ath 2 Patchway T 3. GFA Challenge Trophy third round: Henbury 4 AEK Boco 0.
