Frampton United kicked off the County League’s new season – the league’s 50th – in emphatic style with a 4-0 win at AEK Boco.
The home side started brightly but Frampton’s first corner after seven minutes gave a hint of what was to come as Kris Bulley’s glancing header was only just wide.
Another corner for Frampton just moments later sent in by Manola Espada was hooked over the bar by Joe Wilton but the visitors opened the scoring in the 11th minute from a long throw into the box that was picked up by Shaun Lawson who made space to slip the ball past keeper Liam Jakes.
A minute later it was 2-0 when Joe Wilton’s 25-yard drive flew past Jakes into the bottom corner. On 31 minutes the visitors increased their lead with a right-footed in-swinging corner from the left by Manolo Espada that finished up in the back of the net.
Frampton scored a fourth goal on 65 minutes after a home move broke down and the ball was hit long upfield for Ryan Vincent to lob over Jakes.
Gala Wilton slumped to a 4-1 defeat at home to Patchway Town with their only goal coming late on when a long ball was flicked on by Kyle Bakewell and well finished by Danny Knight whose shot clipped the post on its way in.
Stonehouse Town went down 3-1 at Wick despite going ahead midway through the first half with an excellent strike from Dan Martin.
Hardwicke earned a point in a 1-1 draw at Henbury with a late goal by Shaun Smith. The visitors had missed a penalty three minutes earlier.
Liam Thomas and Jordi Sheen were on target for Broadwell Amateurs but it wasn’t enough as they went down 5-2 at Lebeq United.
