Brentford winger Theo Archibald joins Forest Green Rovers on season-long loan

Forest Green Rovers have signed exciting young midfielder Theo Archibald on a season-long loan deal from Championship side Brentford.
The 20-year-old linked up with his new team-mates yesterday on the first day back of pre-season training at Stanley Park.
Having come through the academy set-up at Celtic, the Scottish-born player, who has been capped at under-21 level for his national side, joined Brentford last summer.
Archibald, who plays predominantly on the right wing, was a mainstay of Brentford’s B side last term, facing up against the likes of AC Milan, Porto and Manchester City, and also made three appearances in the first team last season, twice off the bench in the Championship and one start against Norwich City in the Carabao Cup.
Having also spent time on loan at Scottish League One side Albion Rovers during the 2016/17 season and UEFA Youth League experience, having played 11 games for Celtic, scoring two goals, he now feels ready to prove himself at Forest Green.
“It all came about very quickly,” Archibald said.
“I think I had it in my head earlier in the summer that chances at Brentford would be the same as what they were last season, maybe being on the bench sometimes.
“At my age, I’m 20, I think it is important for me to keep playing men’s football regularly.
“It was something that interested me a lot when I heard that the interest from Forest Green Rovers was there.
“Today was the first training session and it was very enjoyable and I’m happy to be here.”
Mark Cooper, Forest Green’s manager, said: “We’ve got attacking threats in wide areas, we’ve got Dayle Grubb, George Williams and Isaac Pearce and we felt we need another one on the right-hand side to give us that option to change things about.
“Theo has played in the Championship, he’s got fantastic pace, is a decent size and will be a really exciting asset for us.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
