Cheltenham Town at home for League Two opener but Forest Green away
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Thursday, 21st June 2018, 12:50
Cheltenham Town will begin their 2018/19 League Two campaign with a home game but Forest Green Rovers face a long trip to the north east.
While Gary Johnson’s men have a home fixture with Crawley Town on 4th August, Forest Green’s fans will be checking their sat-navs before they head off to Grimsby Town for their team’s league opener.
Forest Green’s first home game is a week later, against Oldham Athletic, and the two Gloucestershire teams will meet for the first time on Saturday 20th October when Rovers will have home advantage.
The return game between the two clubs also takes place this year, on Saturday 29th December.
That game will be a highlight for both sets of supporters around the festive period – a period that will be busy, as always, for both clubs.
Cheltenham travel to Swindon Town on Saturday 22nd December, host Milton Keynes Dons on Boxing Day, and after the Forest Green game, travel to Yeovil Town on New Year’s Day before travelling to Crawley Town on 5th January.
Mark Cooper’s team, meanwhile, begin their festive campaign with a home game against Crewe on 22nd December before making the short trip over the Severn Bridge to play Newport on Boxing Day.
Three days after taking on Cheltenham they host Northampton Town and they are also at home on 5th January when Grimsby are the visitors.
Cheltenham’s final home game of the season is against Swindon Town on 27th April while Forest Green’s is a week later – on 4th May – when Exeter City are the visitors.
That is the final day of the campaign, a day that sees Cheltenham travel to play Stevenage.Other Images
