Broadwell Amateurs held to a draw by Hanham Athletic in County League
Author: Contributed, Posted: Monday, 23rd April 2018, 12:10
The games have been coming thick and fast for Broadwell Amateurs as they play catch-up in the County League and they were in action again on Saturday when they drew 2-2 at Hanham Athletic.
Harry Williams gave the visitors the lead when he latched onto a long ball up field, shrugged off the challenges of two Hanham defenders to neatly lob the ball over keeper Ross Britton.
James Fry levelled for the home side but Broadwell retook the lead on 39 minute following a superb piece of skill by Kristian Burnard who burst into the Hanham box past two defenders and unleashed a left-footed shot that thumped against the back of the net.
Right on half time the visitors should have scored again when Burnard sent in a low cross that found Williams but he was unable to convert.
Merry pushed a shot from Jack Fry over the bar but the home side drew level on 79 minutes from a free-kick about 10 yards in from the goal line.
It was hit very low by Sam Brown and it skimmed across to the far post and Adam Grinter tapped it in.
Thornbury Town are very close to taking the title after they comfortably beat Hardwicke 5-1 at the Mundy Playing Fields. Leading goalscorer Craig Lancastle completed another hat-trick and there were also goals for Luke Franklin and Toby Bennett.
Craig Harris got the goal for Hardwicke who finished the game with 10 men after James Reid saw red.
Stonehouse were 2-0 up after 27 minutes in their home game against AEK Boco but had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
A good break by Liam Wright down the right on 25 minutes led to the opening goal which was volleyed home by Jonny Brodie and two minutes later it was 2-0 when Alex Kibble hit a 35-yard free-kick past the Boco keeper.
Boco were level before the break, however, with goals by Scott Woodman and Harrison Kyte.
Frampton continued their excellent form with a 2-0 win at Rockleaze Rangers. Both goals came in the first 30 minutes with the opening goal tapped home by Jonathan Lewis after six minutes. The second was netted straight from a corner in the 29th minute by Manolo Espada.
Ruardean Hill Rangers trailed Little Stoke for 71 minutes after Russ Church had given the visitors the lead on 19 minutes with a fortunate goal that bounced over diving keeper Steven Bowles.
It was not until the 90th minute that Rangers netted the equalising goal. Luke Brown’s 25-yard free-kick was saved by Amin Jones and from the resulting corner Jones again pushed the ball out but it hit one of his own defenders and dropped to Joe Kilty to drive home.
Gala Wilton went down 2-0 at home to Wick. Allen Williams and an own goal did the damage as Gala ended the game with 10 men after Junior Mbika was sent off.
