The Beeches have done all they can, now they just have to sit tight and wait and see if Cheltenham Civil Service can win their final two games of the season and pip them to the Division Two title in the Cheltenham League.

The Beeches completed their campaign with a 6-3 win at home to Southside Star before learning that their nearest rivals had slumped to a shock 1-0 defeat at home Andoversford Reserves, who started the day on the bottom of the table.

It leaves Service six points adrift of the leaders with away fixtures this week against FC Barometrics Reserves and Gala Wilton Reserves.

Service have a slightly better goal difference so if they do take maximum points they will consign The Beeches to a place in the play-offs.

Fintan secured the final place in the play-offs with a 6-1 win over Tewkesbury Town Reserves, where they will join FC Barometrics and Hanley Swan.

Andoversford Reserves, meanwhile, host Tewkesbury Town Reserves tomorrow with the losers certain to finish the season bottom of the table.

In the top division, champions Cheltenham Civil Service completed their campiagn in extravagant style, thumping Dowty Dynamos 10-0 while at the other end of the table things are looking bleak for bottom-of-the-table RSG after they were unable to raise a team for their home game against Andoversford.

Kings put daylight between themselves and the bottom two with a 3-1 win at Whaddon United Reserves, but there is still plenty to play for in this division with Upton Town, Andoversford and Bishop’s Cleeve III all battling for the runners-up spot. Cleeve travel to Upton tomorrow.

Division Three champions St Paul’s United bounced back to form with a 9-1 win over Dowty Dynamos Reserves after two successive defeats – 2-1 to AFC Renegades in the semi-final of the Charities Cup and 3-1 in the league at the hands of Falcons Reserves.

Charlton Rovers Reserves warmed up for the play-offs in fine style with a 5-2 win at Brockworth Albion Reserves, who just happen to be the team they’ll play in their play-off semi-final – and Rovers will also have home advantage.

There were four games in Division Four and they were all pretty one-sided with Malvern Vale FC Academy beating Charlton Rovers 3rds 9-0, Prestbury Rovers Reserves defeating Cheltenham Saracens 3rds 7-0, Smiths Athletic Reserves overcoming Welland Reserves 4-0 and Gala Wilton 3rds winning 5-0 at Woodmancote United.

The key games at the top of the table involved Malvern Vale FC Academy and Prestbury Rovers Reserves and mean that if Prestbury win at home to bottom of the table Charlton Rovers Reserves tomorrow night they will be crowned Division Four champions.

And if they do win tomorrow it will crown a very good few days for the club because last week they won the GFA County Primary Cup, defeating Cotswold Rangers Reserves on penalties after the game ended 2-2.
