Lee Keveren hits treble top as Stonehouse Town march into top three in County League
Author: Contributed, Posted: Monday, 5th February 2018, 14:10
Lee Keveren scored a hat-trick as Stonehouse Town won 5-3 at lowly Gala Wilton to lift them into the top three in the County League.
They opened the scoring on 17 minutes when the in-form Liam Gale got on the end of a long ball to sidefoot home at the far post. Nine minutes later, Keveren scored the first of his three when he was put clear to coolly slot the ball home. And he was soon at it again, waltzing past three defenders to make it 3-0.
Gala’s Ryan Dobbins headed home on 37 minutes, but right on half time Robert Humphries netted a fourth for Stonehouse from a corner. Josh Emery hit an unstoppable shot into the Stonehouse net on 54 minutes and four minutes later it got even better for Gala as Dobbins controlled a great cross into the box before scoring the home side’s third.
And the visitors had to wait until the 89th minute to make the game safe when a long throw evaded everyone except Keveren who knocked the ball home.
Broadwell Amateurs, who started the day in third spot having lost only two games so far this season, hosted second-placed Lebeq United and came unstuck as they went down 2-0.
Jordan Sheens went close early on for the home side, but Lebeq were ahead before the break through Leroy Swaby.
Broadwell’s chance to get back in the game came and went when Paul Manns slotted a penalty the wrong side of a post and Lebeq wrapped up the points seven minutes from time through Cameron Brown. The defeat drops Broadwell four places to seventh.
Hardwicke are one place above Broadwell on goal difference after their 2-1 win at Ruardean Hill Rangers.
The visitors went ahead in the 65th minute with a penalty by Paul Carter. Five minutes later the home side were level through Ricky Tingle, but it was Hardwicke who took the points when Will Matthews fired home an unstoppable shot from the right side of the box.
