The Beeches have bounced back to winning ways after their shock reverse to Pittville United the previous week.

On Saturday they defeated lowly Tewkesbury Town Reserves 2-0 in Division Two of the Cheltenham League, sponsored by Bristol Street Motors, to stretch their advantage to six points.

That’s because the team closest to them, Cheltenham Civil Service Reserves, were held to a 1-1 draw at third-placed Hanley Swan. However, Service still have three games in hand on the leaders.

Pittville’s upturn in fortunes – they’d won two on the bounce – came to a shuddering halt on Saturday when they crashed 6-1 at FC Barometrics Reserves.

Impressive Southside Star overcame Bredon Reserves 5-3 while Prestbury Rovers’ problems at the wrong end of the table continue as they went down 5-2 at home to Gala Wilton Reserves.

The chasing teams in Division One may be well adrift of new champions Cheltenham Civil Service but there’s certainly not much to choose between them.

In-form Andoversford moved to within a point of second-placed Upton with a 1-0 win over Dowty Dynamos, while Upton were drawing 1-1 at Wayne Baker’s Newton.

Tewkesbury Town dropped to fourth after a shock 1-0 reverse at home to bottom club Whaddon United Reserves.

Elsewhere in the division, Bishop’s Cleeve III eased to a 4-1 win over Kings.

The race for the Division Three title may have taken a decisive turn in St Paul’s United’s favour at the weekend.

That’s because while they were edging to a 3-2 win at third-placed Brockworth Albion Reserves, their nearest rivals, AFC Renegades, were losing 2-1 to fourth-placed FC Barometrics 3rds.

It leaves St Paul’s seven points ahead of Renegades, albeit having played one game more.

Charlton Rovers Reserves and Dowty Dynamos Reserves shared four goals while FC Lakeside Reserves gained a much-needed boost with a 2-1 win over Windyridge Rovers.

It lifted them off the bottom of the table and was a great response after they were unable to field a team the previous week.

Kings Reserves will go into Saturday’s County Cup semi-final against Cheltenham Civil Service III in a good frame of mind after beating Service by the odd goal in seven two days ago, while Falcons Reserves proved too strong for Leckhampton Rovers, winning 3-0.

Division Four’s basement club Charlton Rovers III picked up their first point of the season the previous weekend with a 3-3 draw against Smiths Athletic Reserves, but they were unable to build on that result on Saturday as they went down 3-1 to Gala Wilton III.

Malvern Vale FC Academy proved too strong for Bishop’s Cleeve Development Reserves, winning 7-0. And there were also seven goals at Cheltenham Saracens, but it was much closer as Woodmancote United left with a 4-3 win.

Malvern Vale FC First defeated Winchcombe Town Reserves 3-1 and the final game saw Andoversford III and Smiths Athletic Reserves share the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
