Gloucester City begin their pre-season campaign on Saturday with manager Tim Harris admitting “we’ve probably got two friendlies too many”.
The first of eight warm-up matches ahead of the start of the new National League South campaign on Saturday 5th August is at Evesham United, who are Gloucester’s new landlords this season.
There are further games against Swindon Supermarine, Bristol Rovers (at Slimbridge), Malvern Town, Newport County, Slimbridge, Derby County and Hereford before the end of the month.
“We’re playing at Malvern as part of the deal that brought Reece King to the club,” said Harris. “It’s the right thing to do. And the game against Swindon Supermarine is part of the Luke Hopper deal even though he has now left us.”
Swindon Supermarine are, of course managed by former Gloucester favourite Dave, Webb, and Harris is looking forward to meeting up with him again.
Other pre-season highlights include matches against Bristol Rovers and Derby County.
The game against Rovers is being played at Slimbridge because Evesham’s ground is not available that day.
Gloucester begin their league campaign at Chelmsford City.
