Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Wednesday, 21st June 2017, 09:50
The first ever Football League game between Forest Green Rovers and Cheltenham Town will take place in November.
The League Two fixtures were published today and Rovers will have home advantage when the two Gloucestershire clubs go head-to-head at the New Lawn on Saturday 25th November.
The two clubs will play the reverse fixture on Saturday 14th April.
Cheltenham begin their 2017/18 campaign – which chairman Paul Baker will hope will produce many more wins than last time out – at Morecambe on Saturday 5th August and a week later they play their first home game of the season when Crawley Town are the visitors.
The relegation from League One last season of Coventry City and Swindon Town – as well as Forest Green’s promotion – has thrown up a mouthwatering fixture list.
Cheltenham host Swindon on Saturday 7th October before heading to Wiltshire for the return fixture just over five months later on Saturday 10th March.
Cheltenham lock horns with Coventry for the first time on Saturday 16th December when Coventry will have home advantage but the two teams don’t meet again until the penultimate fixture of the season on Saturday 28th April.
Cheltenham end their campaign at Crewe Alexandra a week later.
Meanwhile, the Christmas fixtures have thrown up a crackerjack Boxing Day clash with long-time rivals Yeovil Town – Cheltenham have home advantage – before they head to Hertfordshire to play Stevenage on New Year’s Day.
Sandwiched in between is a home game against Newport County on Saturday 30th December.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
