Graeme van Buuren signs one-year extension with Gloucestershire
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Monday, 19th August 2019, 11:00
Gloucestershire all-rounder Graeme van Buuren has signed a new 12-month contract which will keep him with the club until the end of the 2020 season.
The South African joined Gloucestershire in April 2016 and has since been a regular in the first team along with becoming a fan favourite.
The 28-year-old has played in all competitions for Gloucestershire this season. In the Royal London One-Day Cup, he averaged 30 runs with the bat and took four wickets in the six matches he played with his left-arm spin.
He also has a batting average of 30 runs in the County Championship and had match best figures of 3-46 against Sussex at Arundel in June.
His most memorable performance of the season was against local rivals Somerset at the Bristol County Ground in the Royal London One-Day Cup when his terrific man of the match knock of 61 – which included six 4s and one 6 – helped Gloucestershire to a four-wicket win.
Speaking on his contract extension, van Buuren said: “I’m very excited to be with the lads for another year, I have loved it here since joining the club in 2016.
“My family and I have made lifelong friends and I can’t wait to keep that going. We are playing fantastic cricket at the moment, hopefully we can end the season with success.”
Gloucestershire head coach Richard Dawson added: “It’s great that Graeme has extended his contract with the club. He’s been an important member of the squad on and off the pitch for a number of years and we look forward to this continuing.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
