Gloucestershire in good spirits as they prepare for T20 Finals Day at Edgbaston
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Friday, 13th September 2024, 11:00
Gloucestershire head into T20 Finals Day tomorrow in buoyant mood after their impressive four-wicket County Championship Division Two win over Middlesex at Lord’s yesterday.
Six players who booked the county’s place at the end-of-season spectacular at Edgbaston – Cameron Bancroft, Miles Hammond, James Bracey, Ollie Price, Tom Price and Ben Charlesworth – were also playing in London.
It was only Gloucestershire’s second County Championship win of the campaign, but it was enough to lift them up to fifth place in the eight-strong division.
They have two games left to play – at home to Sussex and away to Glamorgan – and head coach Mark Alleyne will be hoping they can finish the campaign in the top four.
Gloucestershire all-rounder Tom Price played a key role in their win yesterday, taking 5-81 with his right-arm medium-fast bowling in the first innings and then steering his side home with an unbeaten 34 on the final day.
Younger brother Ollie made 76 in Gloucestershire’s first innings while Hammond (78) and Bracey (56) both made half-centuries in the second innings run chase.
Gloucestershire play Sussex in the second semi-final tomorrow (2.30pm) with the winners of that tie facing either cup holders Somerset or Surrey in the final (6.45pm).Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
