“It’s going to be a fun, friendly day, weather permitting.”

So says Jim Conway who was talking about Andoversford’s keenly-anticipated game against Gloucestershire Seniors on Sunday to mark their 125th anniversary.

And Conway added: “If it rains, we’ll have a fun, friendly day in the bar!”

The 30 overs-a-side game will get under way at 2pm with the Gloucestershire side made up of players over 50, 60 and 70.

Conway, whose son Joe is Andoversford’s chairman as well as a regular player in their Gloucestershire League Division 8C side, is looking forward to welcoming some old friends to the club on Sunday.

“I played with Phil Edge and Steve Bridge at Katch 22,” said Conway. “Steve Bridge also played for Bredon, he was a quick bowler.”

Conway has also asked another former Katch 22 team-mate, Steve Pegram, to umpire and he continued: “It should be a good day.

“The result doesn’t matter but it would be great if we could have a close match with both sides scoring about 300!

“If that happened it might become an annual fixture.”

Regular captain and left-arm seamer Jamie Perkins is set to captain Andoversford on Sunday.

Andoversford’s groundsman Chris Baxter is another former Katch 22 player.
