Frocester looking to kick on as they take on close neighbours Stroud

Frocester travel to Stroud on Saturday – weather permitting! – looking to build on a good run of form that has seen them win their last four games in Premier Two Gloucestershire/Wiltshire of the West of England Premier League.
It is form that has taken them into the top four after last season’s relegation from Premier One and comes after they lost their opening two games of the campaign.
This is Uzi Qureshi’s first season as captain after taking over from former Gloucestershire batsman Nick Trainor and he has been delighted by the upturn in form over the past month or so.
“Yes, it’s been really good,” said Qureshi, “we made a bit of a slow start but we’ve turned things around in recent weeks.”
Stroud, who signed South African Keegan Petersen earlier in the season, are still looking for their first win of the league campaign after clinching promotion from Gloucestershire Division but they will certainly be up for a game against a club who play their cricket just down the road from them.
“I’ve not played against them at this level before,” added Qureshi, “but I’ve told the players just to treat it as another game.”
Qureshi, meanwhile, has reeled off six double-figures scores this season but has yet to reach 50.
He has a highest score of 46 – made it the most recent match against his former club Chippenham – and a lowest score of 19 and has an average of just a shade over 32.
“I’ve been in pretty good nick but I’ve been unlucky or played a poor shot,” said Qureshi. “I’d like to kick on and get a hundred.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
