One of the highlights of Gloucestershire’s next sporting summer will get under way on Monday 15th July.
That is the start of the 2019 Cheltenham Cricket Festival when Gloucestershire will play two four-day matches plus a couple of T20 games.
The Festival, which runs until Thursday 25th July, begins with a County Championship Division Two game against Leicestershire. A second four-day game, against local rivals Worcestershire, gets under way on Sunday 21st July.
The first T20 game is against Glamorgan on Friday 19th July – it’s also Gloucestershire’s first of the campaign in the shortest form of the game – and the T20 clash with Middlesex on Thursday 25th July will bring the curtain down on the Festival. T20 finals day is at Edgbaston on Saturday 21st September.
Gloucestershire begin their championship season game against Derbyshire in Bristol on Thursday 11th April – they play a three-day friendly, also at Bristol, against Oxford MCCU starting on Friday 5th April.
The county begin their Royal London One-Day Cup campaign against Middlesex at Lord’s on Sunday 21st April, and Gloucestershire’s supporters will be hoping they can return to the home of English cricket for the final of the competition just over a month later on Saturday 25th May.
There’s no shortage of one-day cricket in 2019 – quite apart from the World Cup – because Gloucestershire also have two one-day fixtures against Australia A in Bristol on Sunday 30th June and Tuesday 2nd July.
The county’s season ends with a four-day against Northamptonshire at Bristol starting on Monday 23rd September.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
