Gloucestershire’s Mike Procter will be centre stage at this year’s Cheltenham Cricket Festival
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Friday, 22nd June 2018, 10:10
Mike Procter will return to one of his favourite stomping grounds next month.
The Gloucestershire great has confirmed that he will be attending the Professional Cricketers’ Association’s big day at this year’s Cheltenham Festival.
Procter, the Herculean fast bowling all-rounder who was the inspiration behind the county’s two never-to-be-forgotten one-day cup final wins in the 1970s, will be one of close to 100 former first class cricketers who will gather in a marquee at this year’s Festival on Tuesday 17th July.
That is the second day of the county championship game against Sussex and one-time Gloucestershire wicketkeeper Andy Brassington, who is the driving force behind the annual PCA event at Cheltenham College, said: “It should be a great day.”
Other top names from yesteryear who are set to attend include former England fast bowler John Snow, ex-England chairman of selectors and one-time off-spinner Geoff Miller and ex-West Indies pace bowler Vanburn Holder.
They will be swapping stories from days gone by with other guests including Tony Brown, Trevor Jesty, Roger Knight, Tim Lamb, Peter Lee, Matt Maynard, Pat Pocock, Clive Radley, David Steele, Andy Stovold and Bob Taylor.
The Festival starts on 16th July and runs until 27th July with Gloucestershire playing two championship games and two T20 Blast fixtures.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
