While it’s the time of year when the majority of people are fretting over what presents to buy their loved ones, cricket fans across Gloucestershire – and in Cheltenham in particular – may not be quite as focused as they possibly should on all things shopping.
That’s because Gloucestershire’s fixtures for the 2018 cricket season have just been revealed – including the all-important Cheltenham Cricket Festival dates.
So while many people are planning their Christmas festivities, a number of Gloucestershire cricket fans will be busy planning next year’s holiday rota.
And for all you Gloucestershire cricket fans out there – the two weeks you need off are from Monday 16th July to Friday 27th July.
As usual there will be a feast of cricketing entertainment with the festival – the highlight of the sporting summer for many in the county – getting under way with a four-day County Championship Division Two game against Sussex on Monday 16th July.
The first of two T20 Blast games at the stunning Cheltenham College ground takes place against Essex on Friday 20th July and is then followed by another county championship game – this time against Durham – which starts on Sunday 22nd July.
The final match is the second T20 game – against Glamorgan – on Friday July 27th.
The day before that, cricket followers will get the chance to see Western Storm play at the College for the first time.
The women’s team, led by England’s Heather Knight, won the Kia Super League last season and will host Surrey Stars in a T20 clash on Thursday 26th July.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
