Gloucester City Winget moved off the bottom of the table and up to seventh place with a six-wicket victory away to Chippenham in a rain-hit WEPL Premier Two Glos/Wilts clash.

Chippenham were dismissed for 92, Jack Cowles leading the way with a haul of 4-11, while there were also two wickets each for Alex Nel, Craig Collinson and Simon Guilor.

Winget then nailed down their second successive win with Scott Montgomery unbeaten on 35 and opener Dave Hemmings hitting 26.

Promotion hopefuls Cheltenham were 39-run victors at Westbury, Nick Evans (61) and Pete Woodland (43) starring. But there was a 50-run reverse for Hatherley and Reddings at home to Goatacre, while torrential rain washed out Thornbury who were 32-2 after ten in their derby with Rockhampton.

James Bracey and Roger Sillence steered Bristol into the top three of Premier One with an eight-wicket home romp against Frocester who are now in the bottom two with only four rounds of games to go.

The 2015 champions, who lost the toss, struggled to 184-9 from 47 overs in this weather-affected clash, thanks mostly to Fin Dixon who compiled 112 from 135 balls (13 fours, four sixes).

The next highest scorer was Uzi Qureshi on 20, as Bristol skipper Will Rudge (4-35 from nine) and Vir Lakhani (2-32 from nine) struck.

Gloucestershire’s Bracey and former county all-rounder Sillence then found form with the bat, sharing an unbroken stand of 132 to see Bristol over the line.

Bracey’s 103 from 123 balls included 13 boundaries, while Sillence’s 74 off 68 featured ten fours and a six.

Bedminster’s run of six successive wins came to a halt with a heavy defeat at home to high-flying Clevedon, while Downend lost by nine runs on Duckworth Lewis at Lechlade.

In the Gloucestershire Division, leaders Dumbleton held off Tewkesbury by 39 runs, Wade Ridsdale hitting 54 and Dan Holland capturing 6-27 from ten.

Cirencester overcame fellow highflyers Frocester 2nds by 34 runs, Tom Fullalove claiming 5-20 from seven, while Stroud lost ground with an 85-run setback away to relegation-threatened Chipping Sodbury for whom Craig Scully (51) and Phil Lill (4-22) made an impact.

George Leadbetter (87) led Cheltenham Civil Service to an imposing 269-7 away to Corse & Staunton who were dismissed for 139, Callum Wilson capturing 3-34.
