Cheltenham kept the pressure on leaders Goatacre with a comfortable 122-run derby victory away to Hatherley and Reddings to stay second in the WEPL’s Premier Two Glos/Wilts division.

Opener Jeremy Duncan compiled an unbeaten 118 from 170 balls (15 fours and a six) while there was also 50 from Mike Kelly in a total of 232-5.

And Kelly’s burst of 5-38 from nine, backed up by tight spells from Luke Sellers (2-14 from eight) and Liam Walker (0-14 from six) then pegged back the home outfit to a response of only 110.

With two rounds of games to go, Goatacre are 11 points clear while in a delicious turn of fate these two sides will meet on the final Saturday of the season in a potential promotion play-off.

Thornbury’s Dan Davis, meanwhile, thumped 176 from 126 balls to pave the way for a 72-run success over Biddestone, putting on 225 for the first wicket with Josh Slade (70).

Bath have retained the Premier One title, defeating Bedminster by 57 runs just as closest rivals Clevedon went down by two wickets away to Lechlade.

Clevedon, the only side with a chance of chasing down the champions, were bowled out for 136, Benny Ellis taking 6-31 from ten and Gloucestershire’s Jack Taylor 3-22.

And Ellis then stood firm with an unbeaten 56 in a fine win which takes his side a big step closer towards safety.

Frocester – the 2015 champions – hauled themselves out of the bottom two by chasing down a target of 245 at Potterne, opener Ross Martin top scoring on 82 from just 45 balls (11 fours, four sixes).

Dumbleton are a step closer towards the Gloucestershire Division title and promotion thanks to a 200-run victory away to Chipping Sodbury.

Opener Ben Tegg (133) dominated the visitors’ challenge of 261-9, Phil Lill capturing 3-36 from ten, before Sodbury were rushed out for only 61, Will Sharp (4-15) leading the charge.

Opener Jamie Jamieson-Black cracked 126 while brothers Jock (4-16) and Jono (4-40, both from ten) also shone for second-placed Cirencester who saw off Cheltenham Civil Service by 95 runs.
