Cheltenham are back up to second in WEPL Premier Two Glos/Wilts thanks to a resounding nine-wicket home victory against Thornbury.

Liam Walker (4-30 from ten), Mike Kelly (3-22 from six) and George Pritchard (2-26) combined to dismiss their visitors for only 134 before opener Jeremy Duncan (65 not) and Nick Evans (61 not) ensured few problems for Cheltenham who are now 14 points behind leaders Goatacre.

With five more rounds of games to go, the fight for the only promotion place remains wide open and could come down to the final Saturday of the season when Goatacre host Cheltenham.

Bottom side Gloucester City Winget showed they will not be going down without a fight following a 24-run home victory against Westbury who started the day in second place, Scott Montgomery hitting 67 and Alex Nel capturing 5-44 from ten.

And Hatherley & Reddings edged Burbage & Easton Royal by 44 runs to also keep alive their hopes of avoiding the drop, the wickets being shared by Nick Weeks (3-39), Owen Price (2-10), Jackson Edwards (2-14) and Paul Gorick (2-19).

In Premier One, Downend are up to third thanks to a 31-run home win against Potterne which featured half centuries from opener Patrick Grieshaber and Dan Lezar plus a return of 3-28 from Gloucestershire paceman Craig Miles.

Also up a place, to fourth, are Bedminster following their sixth successive triumph, this time overcoming Bridgwater by seven wickets in a rain-affected encounter while Bristol lost out by four wickets away to second placed Clevedon.

Dumbleton, the Gloucestershire division pacesetters, thumped Corse & Staunton by six wickets thanks to Tom Green (6-41) and Ben Tegg (50 not).

But second-placed Cirencester lost ground with defeat on DLS at home to lowly Chipping Sodbury, Phil Lill (52) and John Rendell (47) denying Jock Jamieson-Black (5-15 from 9.2).

Rain rules also came into play at Cheltenham Civil Service who overcame high-flying Frocester by seven wickets, George Leadbetter taking 3-29 from ten and following up with an unbeaten 63.
