Hatherley and Reddings are off the bottom of West of England League Premier Two Glos/Wilts thanks to a crucial five-wicket home victory against fellow strugglers Biddestone which featured an outstanding display with ball and then bat by Andre Soma.

The all-rounder captured 3-30 from 10 as Biddestone were bowled out for 174. And Soma then steered his side to their third win of the summer with an unbeaten 76 from 114 balls.

Hatherley are now only 20 points behind eighth-placed Biddestone and six clear of Gloucester City Winget who prop up the table after a 30-run home reverse against Rockhampton.

Will Simmons’ Cheltenham side slipped another place to third following a 10-run home reverse against Burbage and Easton Royal despite Pete Woodland’s 65, and Thornbury – for whom Dan Davis captured 5-33 from 10 – came up 10 runs shy at Goatacre.

Bedminster, meanwhile, are out of the Premier One relegation zone for the first time thanks to clinching a fourth successive win, this time thumping Potterne by 125 runs.

Former Gloucestershire captain Mark Alleyne’s unbeaten 74 lifted the Bristol side to 324-7 – their highest total of the summer – before, along with captain James Carter and Jack Gibbs, claiming three wickets to complete the victory.

This continues to be a very tight league with only 20 points separating third-placed Downend and Frocester, the 2015 champions who are now second bottom after a five-wicket reverse away to Bridgwater.

Downend moved up on the back of a low-scoring seven-wicket home derby triumph against Bristol, Nathan Roberts unbeaten on 51.

Dumbleton, the Gloucestershire Division pacemakers, eased in by 120 runs at Stroud, Ben Tegg and Dan Cranitch completing half centuries while nearest rivals Frocester 2nds held off Chipping Sodbury by 32 runs, Dan Cave top scoring on 52.

Opener Adrian Mayes (79 not) guided Cheltenham Civil Service to a four-wicket home trumping of Bourton Vale while Cirencester overcame Apperley by eight wickets and Tewkesbury romped in by nine wickets at Corse and Staunton.
