Shurdington leapt from fourth to pole position after completing a 25-run triumph at Great Rissington as the top three all slipped up in Division Three of the Bank House Gloucestershire County League.

Skipper Keith Knight (65) and Tom Knight (47) led the way in the visitors’ challenge of 264-9 before Rissington came up just short, James Seagrave hitting 52 as James Nicol captured 4-45.

Woodpeckers, top at the start of the day, suffered a seven-wicket reverse away to Frocester 3rds, despite an unbeaten 100 from Andy Ruxton.

And there were also defeats on the road for fellow high-flyers Ullenwood Bharat and Slaughters United, against Lydney 2nds and Newent, respectively.

Three wickets apiece for Ben Nelmes and Callum Miller helped Lydney squeeze in by just two runs while Tom Devries (4-23) and Karl Mortimer (72) starred in Newent’s six-wicket win.

Frampton-on-Severn climbed off the bottom of the table with skipper Lee Driver-Dickenson’s unbeaten 123 at the top of the order paving the way for a 57-run victory away to Rockhampton 2nds.

Division One leaders Lydney were comfortable seven-wicket victors at Cranham, Jack O’Connell capturing 4-29 from nine while Westbury-on-Severn romped in by 131 runs at promotion rivals Charlton Kings, Jon Tegg (91) and Dan Hockaday (4-38) the heroes.

Skipper John Veits (101) was another centurion, leading from the front in Kingsholm’s 103-run triumph away to struggling Gloucester AIW Sports.

And Woodmancote are out of the bottom two after a nerve-tingling one-run victory against Painswick.

Cam, the Division Two pacesetters, overcame Cinderford St John by 44 runs, Alex Ballard contributing a breezy 60 while there were three wickets each for Ryan Western and Ben Holloway.

Poulton are up to second thanks to an 181-run home humbling of struggling Gloucester City Winget 2nds, Jack Morris finishing with fine figures of 6-8 from 6.5 overs.

Brad Thomas (83) top-scored for Oldlands, who edged Hatherley and Reddings 2nds by 31 runs, and Tom Febry’s 117 was the highlight of Chipping Sodbury 2nds’ 52-run derby win at Thornbury 2nds.

Second bottom Stone closed the gap on their rivals with a 16-run home success against Tetbury that featured an unbeaten 123 from captain Pete Lavis.

George Bailey, meanwhile, starred with an unbeaten 178 opening for Hawkesbury Upton who started the day top and held off Dymock by 53 runs in Division Four.

Witcombe, though, edged back into pole position by banking maximum points in an 18-run home trumping of Birdlip and Brimpsfield, Byron Forgan turning the tide with figures of 4-41.

Jack Carpenter (90 and 3-37) enjoyed himself in Aston Ingham’s 181-run home victory against Lechlade 2nds while opener Kevin Emery was 80 not out for Dumbleton 2nds, who suffered a six-wicket setback at home to Gloucester AIW Sports 2nds for whom Salim Veshmia compiled an unbeaten 64.

Cheltenham Civil Service 2nds rallied from 58-5 to post 200-9 at Fairford, eventually prevailing by 45 runs with Henry Buckland hitting 58 and Lewis Febery claiming 4-31 from nine.

Langford, the Division Five leaders, cruised in by seven wickets at Apperley 2nds, Matt Clark unbeaten on 50, and Minchinhampton remain second with a seven-wicket victory at Haresfield Gladiators, opener Howard Auster unbeaten on 73.

Bottom side St Stephens missed out by 10 runs away to Stroud 2nds despite Ben Link’s 54. And it was just as close at Tewkesbury 2nds where their Painswick counterparts held their nerve for a one-wicket victory, Dominic Barnard’s unbeaten 56 proving crucial.

Top scorer earlier for Tewkesbury was opener Ulysses Alonso with 96 before he was denied a ton by Nick Marment (3-52).
