If you’re looking for a curated interior full of character, look no further than your very own unique piece of upholstered furniture.
There are so many reasons to re-cover or reupholster a much-loved item like a chair, sofa, bench seat or ottoman. A piece that may have been in your family for generations has a story to tell and brings a little history and gravitas to your scheme.
Making an individual choice of fabric will bring your design vision to life and transform the look of your room. You can choose any fabric to enhance your overall scheme, without being restricted to the manufacturer’s choice of fabrics.
Something way beyond the ordinary
People often say that reupholstering costs the same as buying an item new and whilst this may be true, what you end up with is something way beyond the ordinary. On top of that, you will have brought a well-made piece of furniture back from the brink, giving it a new lease of life.
If you don’t already own an old piece to work with, you can pick them up for a good price from antique markets, second hand shops, eBay or Facebook Marketplace. You’ll be starting your very own collection of treasured pieces to hand on.
The design is in your hands
When you choose to upholster an old piece of furniture you are not only breathing new life into it, but also creating something unique to you that works beautifully in your scheme. The design of the finished piece is in your hands, from the colour of the legs and the fabric you choose, to any finishes or trims you decide to use. If you feel the work is too complicated to tackle yourself there are lots of local upholsterers with the skills and expertise to do the work.
Quality furniture lasts for generations
Quality furniture will last for generations and long after the fabric has worn out or the cushions need replacing. The structure of the furniture, the springs and frame will still be like new and if not, these can be repaired too.
Saving good quality furniture from landfill and bringing it back to life has to be a plus for everyone. Make the most of your cherished pieces throughout your home.Other Images
