The kitchen seems like the biggest project in any home, but it really doesn’t have to be; with planning and preparation key, you can give your kitchen a facelift without the extraordinary bill.
Paint the walls
One of the easiest ways to update any room is to give the walls a lick of paint. With many brands now offering durable paint for kitchen walls the world is your oyster. Go light for a fresh look to brighten up the room or go dark for a dramatic contemporary feel in your kitchen space.
Revamp the units
The inside of most kitchen cupboards are fine, but it’s the doors that need the facelift. You could completely replace the doors or alternatively paint the doors another colour to make the kitchen feel completely different. Remember to sand and prime so the upgrade is of the best quality.
Replace the hardware
Kitchen handles are one of the most used things in our home and can start to look worn and old. Replace the hardware on your kitchen cupboards to something sleek and modern in chrome, or upgrade to on-trend brass or copper.
Update the floor
This may seem like a huge project, but it doesn’t have to be; there are so many ways to update your flooring now. Go for a complete overhaul and update the floor to a patterned tile to give your kitchen space a real dramatic upgrade. Alternatively, replace tiles with wood flooring for a warmer look and feel.
If those options sound a little too much, paint over existing wooden floors with floor paint to make the room feel light and bright. There are so many different colours to choose now for floor paint – you might find picking a colour a little tricky!
Update the splashback
Remove those tired old tiles behind the sink or cooker and replace with something bright and new. Try laying the tiles in a contemporary pattern, like herringbone, for a real on-trend look and feel, and remember the grout too. This year it’s all about coloured grout; grey looks fantastic against bright whites and lights.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
