The interior trend for house plants is not going away any time soon. In fact, House Beautiful has said the trend is here to stay for 2018 and beyond, and I for one think there is nothing better than a bit of greenery in the home; not only is it good for the air quality, but plants add wonderful finishing touches in any room.
Houseplants look fantastic grouped together in different heights. A really easy way to achieve this look in your own home is to create this simple do-it-yourself copper and wood plant stand. For this DIY stand you will need the following:
Step One
Cut a dowel rod to the height you’d like your plant stand to be – spend time at the beginning working out the measurements before cutting. The pictured plant stand is 600mm for the legs (x4) plus 100mm for top. The great thing about this DIY is that you can make the plant stand whatever height you would like, although the taller the plant stand the less stable it could be, so you may need to use a thicker doweling rod and make sure you can get the copper tee pieces to fit before you purchase.
Step Two
Once you have all the leg pieces cut out, you are ready to assemble. Put the larger dowel length into the copper tee piece, followed by the smaller piece on top and use a little all-purpose adhesive to make sure things are held together and a little more secure.
Step Three
Create your centrepiece for your plant pot to sit on. You need to do some calculations based on your plant pot diameter and include how much of a border you’d like around your plant pot; again spend some time getting this right before you commit to cutting the dowel rod.
Once the measurements have been decided, cut a rod for the diameter that will hold two copper tee pieces, followed by four dowel pieces that will be attached to the legs you’ve already created. Stick the pieces all together and let it dry overnight to allow the glue to stick and for things to become a little more secure. Don’t worry if you have a little bit of glue around the edges, this can all be tidied up or will dry clear.
Step Four
Add a super cool plant and pot. Style it up. Make more!Other Images
